If you’re ever looking for a time to get a Christmas tree with no fuss — lines, crowds, etc. — a rainy day is the time to do it. I walked down to Frager’s for my tree this afternoon and was home in less than 20 minutes. (Apparently, wet Christmas trees are considered something of a downer, though mine dried very quickly.)

As is my habit, I carried the tree home by hand, which is actually a lot easier than it sounds — Christmas trees are more awkward than heavy, after all. The one drawback was that I realized this year that I could really only carry a tree from the 5′ – 6′ section, nothing taller, which put the kibosh on my thoughts of perhaps getting a bigger tree this year.

I haven’t finished decorating the tree yet, though I did get it lit up tonight. I used two strings of 300 lights on it, so it’s pretty bright and cheery. And once I get the ornaments and garland on it tomorrow, it should be very festive indeed.
