I have only two things to say tonight:

— When 20 children are murdered in their school, it is not time to have a meaningful dialogue about guns and gun control. It is past time. So far past time. Our wilfully misguided reading of a 225-year-old document is this nation’s shame.

— We need to start dealing with mental illnesses like any other disease, with comprehensive and stigma-free medical care. People will always be reluctant to seek help for themselves or loved ones as long as we continue to treat mental illness like a moral failing rather than a disease.

I am heartsick over the situation in Connecticut, and furious that it happened. After Columbine. After Tech. After Binghamton. After Aurora.

No more afters. This needs to stop.

I hate that I had anxiety sending my kid to school tonight for a movie night. I shouldn’t feel like that. School is supposed to be safe.

I can’t stop thinking of the parents who lost their babies today. I’m sick over it. Mental illness or not, there is a special place in hell for this guy.

    This needs to stop.

So sad, v.e.r.y. sad indeed. Every parent & grandparent outside my Grands’ elementary school had tear-stained faces today. We all clutched at our babies extra tightly and they – mercifully – had no idea why. There are no words. There are no words. This is just beyond awful…..

Gun control — Y.E.S. But I fear it is “locking the barn door after the horse has escaped!”. Too many guns….

No words. Vacillate between sorrow and anger. Sick b/c our “babies” were made aware of this and having to parent to some VASTLY different levels of comprehension…
