DC Brews: Chocolate City Beer

Over the weekend, joined by my friends Lori and Erica, I continued the tour of DC breweries I started last month at DC Brau.. Our destination this time was Chocolate City Beer in Brookland.

Chocolate City is both newer and smaller than DC Brau, but they share the same welcoming vibe. They were pouring two beers on Saturday: Cornerstone Copper Ale (their signature brew, which I’ve had at local bars) and Cerveza Nationál (a black lager). I was pleasantly surprised by the latter, given that I was expecting a much lighter, beach-in-Mexico type of beer — based on nothing more than vacation experiences and my limited grasp of Spanish. It’s really smooth and chocolatey, though, and was my choice when it came time to fill my growler.

Here are a few pictures from my visit:

Two breweries down, one to go… And one distillery!

Very cool! I only wish they also had growler hours on Sundays, because Saturdays usually have me on the bike while the breweries are dispensing their gallons of yummy.
