Today’s topic comes courtesy of Booking Through Thursday:
Do you bring the book(s) you’re reading with you when you go out? How? Physically, or in an e-reader of some kind? Have your habits in this regard changed?
Definitely! Ever since childhood, I’ve always packed books – never just one – for trips, and once mass transit became a part of my daily life, carrying something to read became a necessity. (Train/bus delays are way, way more tolerable with a book.) In fact, for many years “Can a book fit in it?” was one of the main criteria I used in selecting purses – and the amount of damage to a book’s cover was a pretty accurate representation of how long I had to carry it around before I finished.
Of course, now I have a Kindle, so that’s less of an issue – it fits in nearly every handbag I own. I also never have that wrenching moment anymore when I have to take the extra book out of my suitcase in order for it to close. I even keep the Kindle app on my iPhone, just in case I am stranded somewhere while carrying a really small purse.
So yeah, never, ever without a book — though rarely a physical one anymore.
And yes, this photo is recycled from the slideshow when the kittens first arrived. The sinus issues I whined about last night have not improved, so I didn’t really have the ambition to stage a topically appropriate photo shoot tonight.
