Early, Catching Up, and Genetics

Saturday is much closer to over back home on the east coast than here on the west, so I’ll try to sneak in this week’s look at three beautiful things from the past week quickly, so as to post on Saturday in both places.

1. Our flight from Dulles to Oakland went so smoothly that Mom and I actually were off the plane a half-hour earlier than scheduled.

2. I snuck away from the family reunion-related festivities last night to have dinner with my friend Heidi, who now lives in San Jose. It was so great to get to catch up with her and see the adorable craftsman house she and Jeremy are calling home these days.

3. The family reunion picnic was this afternoon and almost 50 people showed up. Much to my surprise, it was as easy as could be to tell who the blood relatives are – from the oldest, my great aunt Sara (80+), to the youngest, my second cousin once removed Julian (2) – every single one of us has the same shaped face. A strong gene, that one.

What’s been beautiful in your world this week?

A very very l-o-n-g list; however, I’m just going to mention sleeping in our own beds tonight, so that folks know we made the drive home.
