As I zip through the Bay Area on BART to have dinner with my former roommate Heidi, I thought I’d share a few photos from today’s jaunt out to see the redwoods at Muir Woods National Monument.
We only stayed a couple of hours and walked a fraction of the available trails, but even having seen only a bit of the park, I can say without hesitation that it’s amazingly beautiful and should be on everyone’s must-see list when visiting San Francisco and environs. And as odd as it might sound, don’t avoid it on a foggy, rainy day. That’s what we had today and the light was amazing and the rain made everything look incredibly lush. But do bring a rain jacket, because the $3 plastic rain ponchos are seriously goofy looking.
Ask me how I know…
And is it just me, or does it look like a dinosaur could step into any one of these photos and not look out of place? There is something seriously land before time about redwood forests. They just seem… beyond ancient.
