No Fuss, Delicious Memories, and Hockey Town

It’s Saturday once again, and time to look back at three beautiful things from the past week. I’m writing this in a hurry before the Caps game gets started, because I know that I’ll be spending the next three hours (at least) too wound up to think about posting anything. Without further ado:

1. I got to spend a couple of days of quality time with my sister this week – doing exciting things like watching hockey, eating (a lot), and going to Target. I am glad we’re at a point in our relationship where we don’t have to put on a show of having a fancy life; we can just be our ordinary selves.

2. I finally went to Schwafel, the new(ish) schwarma and falafel – get it? – restaurant on H Street and was delighted to discover that they put zatar on their fries. It was not only delicious, but it reminded me of the first night I was in Jordan with Alison, Farin, and Lynn, when the waiter struggled to describe the spice blend to us, four extremely jet-lagged travelers.

3. I took advantage of the gorgeous weather and walked all over my neighborhood today. I was wearing one of my Caps t-shirts, which caused people going by in cars and on bikes to yell “Let’s Go Caps!” as they passed me. It really felt like DC was a hockey town today.

What’s been beautiful in your world this week?
