10 on Tuesday: What is the Best Part of Summer?

Today’s 10 on Tuesday questions come courtesy of Roots and Rings.

1. Who is your favorite talk show host?

No contest: Jon Stewart all the way.

2. How do you style your hair on a daily basis?

It depends on the time of year. I generally blow it out/flatiron it in the winter, and let it be its messy, curly, natural self in the summer, when humidity makes straightening an exercise in futility. I mix in a liberal amount of “throw it up into a ponytail” year-round.

3. If you were stuck in your bedroom for a week, what would you need in order to not go crazy?

My iPhone, so long as there’s Internet and I get to keep it charged the whole time. It’s got practically everything I need: books (via the Kindle app, music, a few favorite tv show episodes, a movie (currently “Slap Shot”), games, and Facebook/Twitter/the phone to keep me connected outside my room.

4. What are the best non-reality shows on television?

“Mad Men,” “Downton Abbey,” and “Game of Thrones” are my top three, but I also really like “Castle,” “Criminal Minds,” “Once Upon a Time,” and “Big Bang Theory,” among others.

5. Do you mow your own lawn and clean your own house?

No, and not really. The landlord is in charge of mowing, and I have a cleaning service that comes every two weeks, though I do any cleaning that’s required in between.

6. As an adult, what is the best part of summer?

This is a toughie. The long days? Getting to sit on the porch and read? Visiting friends on holiday weekends? Backyard barbecues? Cold beer on a hot day? Playing hooky to go to a ballgame? I can’t pick just one thing.

7. If you could ask one celebrity one question, who and what would you ask?

I’ve been thinking about this all day, and I’ve got no idea whatsoever, either about who or what I would ask.

8. Post a picture.

10 on Tuesday: What is the Best Part of Summer?

I played a wild and crazy game of ball hockey with my nephew G this afternoon. Auntie Sarah prevailed, 10 to 8! (Wow. This didn’t look so blurry on my phone. Sorry.)

9. How many books do you read a year?

Not enough – probably only 10-12. I used to read a lot more. Maybe I need to stop watching some of the tv shows in question 4.

10. Which national chain makes the best delivery pizza?

I never order chain pizza because there’s a little place by my apartment that delivers so fast that I can’t quit them, even though the pizza is mediocre at best.

Huh…I didn’t know we could talk TV….I love Castle! Did you read the books? That’s kinda on my summer list of ‘want-to’s’…

Hah! I can always talk tv… I watch way too much of it. And yeah, I’ve read all the Castle books. In fact, I was just looking on Amazon the other day to see if there was a new one yet, since they’re really good summer reading. Alas, it won’t be out until the fall.

    Yeah for Criminal Minds!

    1. n/a…don’t watch them, have no clue what’s even on…NO CLUE!
    2. Don’t. Wash & wear. If I’m working out, ponytail. If I’m testing, french braid.
    3. Been there, done that (almost exactly 8 years ago) for 8 weeks. My iPad sure would have come in handy then! If I wasn’t confined to bed, I think there is enough cleaning and unfinished projects in our bedroom that a week might be great.
    4. Don’t have much of a selection (minimal cable package), but I have indulged this season in “Once Upon A Time.”
    5. Yes and yes.
    6. Too many choices!!!!! Agree with everything Sarah mentioned, plus more (impromptu neighborhood parties, very late sunsets, the smell of the beach and sunscreen, early morning runs outside, grilling, annual camping trip…..etc).
    7. God: what did You do before creating everything?
    8. I am not in many pictures, as I am generally the one taking them, plus I have no idea how to do this on your blog.
    9. Around 12. More if you count all I have to do with the kids.
    10. We don’t do delivery.

1). Anderson Cooper in the a.m. Also, Oprah.
2). Shampoo & blow dry. Very short hair requires daily maintenance. It is quick, tho.
3). Oh, iPad and iPhone. Would take iPad FIRST!!
4). Don’t know. Rarely watch ’em!
5). Lawn = NO! Did that for 40+ years. Sooo glad to have a “yard man”. House = yes. Not a big deal; just me and my “mostly” non-shedding doggie.
6). Other than going to a ballgame (we have a minor league in residence here), same as Sarah.
    7). Ditto.
    8). Don’t know how!
    9). Now, prob 20ish
10). Make my own these days. I use Nann bread. Just the right size and I can clean the fridge on my pizza and bake in the toaster oven. Yum!
