Celebration, Close, and Cash

Oh hey, busy Saturday! Nice to see you… And with you, the scheduled time for looking back at three beautiful things from the past week:

1. My birthday happy hour – which I remembered to plan at basically the last minute – was small and low-key, but attended by some of my favorite DC people.

2. I spent several nights this week watching playoff hockey “with” my sister, via iMessage. I love that technology lets us be close even when we’re far apart.

3. I finally did my taxes last night after months of procrastinating, and was rewarded with a bigger-than-expected refund. Yay!

What’s been beautiful in your world this week?

    TBTs easy this week:

1). Cold/sinus/allergies all improving thanks in part to time & suggested meds from Sarah!
2). Great luncheon with good friends as we celebrated one’s **negative** PET scan after her year-long struggle with cancer
3). I “bested” your #3 Sarah. NO taxes!!! My darling DIL (a/k/a my tax preparer) reported that I’ve finally lived long enough that I don’t owe a penny for last year. Now, that may not always be the case when I get to drawing on my 401K, but for now, I’ll take it, having paid taxes for 50+ years. Yippee 😊

    1. Had to attend an early morning meeting at school, with 4 kids in tow. The meeting got moved from the spacious media center into a very small break room. Approximately 14 staff, plus principal and admin, plus 4 kids for 45 minutes…and the kids were GOLDEN! Adults went out of their way to compliment them. Btw, the kids had no access to technology. Phew!
    2. Got my first sparring class out of the way. All I could think of when paired up with a 6-foot, 190 lb guy was “train like a tribute!” Oh yeah, he’s a second degree black belt…but the beautiful thing is I did land a single kick to his head.
    3. The only playoff team this household has united to cheer FOR…the Caps. Finally I get to wear my jersey in my house 🙂
    4. Must add this…mowing the lawn INSTEAD OF SHOVELING SNOW!
