Worth It

I am not a big fan of crowds, and as such, I often avoid going down to see the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin around peak time, since it is always insanely jam-packed with people. The weather today, however, was (again) unseasonably warm, and it looked like we were gearing up for a pretty sunset, so I decided to brave the hordes and head down to take a look. And, boy, was I rewarded. There was this view:

The paddle boat dock and cherry trees at sunset.

And this one:

The Jefferson Memorial, cherry blossoms, and sunset. Beauty.

Either one of those shots would have made going down there worth it, but both? Yeah, I am glad I went.

And since my mom always complains that there are never any pictures of me when I do stuff, I exchanged cameras with a solo tourist so we both had shots of ourselves:

More cherry blossoms. And me.
More cherry blossoms. And me.

Happy 100th birthday, cherry blossoms!

Ditto the GORGEOUS!!!! If the colors work, we may use one of those on our walls.

As I awake this morning and see a cloudy, gray, drippy sky (on pretty much the entire eastern coast), it really confirms just how WORTH IT your trip was yesterday to the Tidal Basin. Timing is everything and your results OUTSTANDING!!!

@ Loon — you can always repaint the room to go with the photograph 😏
