I had no intention of buying anything on this trip. I swear. I brought what I needed (even my cowboy boots for the rodeo) and didn’t expect there would be any need to go shopping while I was here.
I failed right out of the gate when we went to get Eileen rodeo-ready at the boot store, as she’d lost her pair in the house fire last fall. She walked out empty-handed, but I left with a pair of fan-freakin’-tastic red boots. (We did manage to get her a spiffy new pair yesterday – too late for the rodeo, but I’m sure she’ll get plenty of use out of them.)
Then, on the way to Brenham on Wednesday, Eileen noticed the Houston Outlet Mall and mentioned that she wanted to pick up a few things for James for spring, so we added that to our list of activities for the week. We went today, and I apparently left the idea that I didn’t need to buy anything in the car, because I left with:
- Two pairs of shoes. (Merrells at 60% off!)
- A dress.
- Two cardigans. (Black and blue; 3/4 sleeve.)
- Two shirts. (One a plain gray t-shirt, the other a plaid button-down.)
- Two pairs of Capri pants.
- A necklace and pair of earrings.
Packing my suitcase tomorrow just got very, very interesting, that’s for sure.
In a development that will surprise no one – least of all me – neither the pair of cowboy boots I brought with me nor the additional pair I picked up here fit into my suitcase. Eileen will be taking them to the post office on Monday.
