Vacation Observations

Time off from work – whether I am traveling or at home – seem to be my kryptonite when it comes to blogging. Being away from the office ought to provide ample time for writing, but instead, the days seem to vanish before I get a chance to write anything. So, tonight I’m trying to sneak in a few quick thoughts before dinner while Eileen and Chris are getting James ready for bed.

  • While it’s not nearly as nice as the one that burned down, the “temporary permanent” house where my sister and her family are living has a great mid-century modern entryway that I looooove.

  • My nephew fell asleep in the car after we had a late lunch, preventing us from stopping to buy Eileen cowboy boots on the way home. Since I had two margaritas with my enchiladas (yay, vacation!), I’m pretty sure James helped me dodge a bullet on that one. (Tequila + boot store = new boots for me, too)
  • Last night Eileen informed me that it’s “cockroach season” so to give her a shout if I needed her to kill one for me, and this morning she poked an innocuous pile of dirt to show me that it was a nest of fire ants… Two new reasons for me to add to my “why I could never live in Texas” list.
  • James loves to play with the camera on the iPhone and knows how to flip the lens around to take self-portraits. This is one:

Apologies for typos and weirdness – blogging from my phone today.

Eileen, be warned: our middle has yet to outgrow the self-portrait thing. Many of his pictures will show up for graduations, weddings, etc. Knowing you, I’m sure you have already started a file for James?

Sarah, your seond bullet puts a smile on my face 🙂
