The End of the World as We Know It

Or the end of the music world, anyway – R.E.M. announced yesterday that they’re retiring after 30+ years together. Perhaps not the biggest news in the greater scheme of things, but when it comes to bands that form the soundtrack of my life, they’re near the top of the list. (My personal holy trinity of rock is them, the E Street Band and U2 – not necessarily in that order. And, fortunately, Bruce and Bono don’t seem to be slowing down.)

So, to honor the end of one of my favorites, it seems appropriate to share the R.E.M. song I love most – “You are the Everything.” It was never a single, so there isn’t an official video, but I did manage to find a live version on YouTube.

Didn’t you and I see them in concert at the Knick?

I know I saw them at the Knick, but I thought it was with Deb (and John from the bank). But maybe it was the four of us?
