Well, maybe not all night, but most of tonight did look like this:

(Well, except for the blinding rainstorm from York to Harrisburg, but it’s not like I was taking pictures then.)
Thanks to the awesomeness of the 80s mix on my iPhone – and the resulting solo singalong – I made it to Binghamton safe and sound and am now tucked into my childhood bed, hoping my nephew decides not to cry all night.
I remember when I used to drive at night to get to NJ every other month. As a sign I’ve gotten old, I now despise night driving and will do everything to avoid it. However, thanks to jackasses at work, we will be driving at night next Thursday—probably this exact route you just took—to get to the Beaver Farm. Ugh. SO not looking forward to it. But at least I’ll have a co-pilot to switch with.
Sounds like you picked a great time to leave DC in light of Irene! Sounds like you may be on track to hit Saratoga before Labor Day 🙂
Kind of reminiscent of another all-night drive we once did…glad you’re here in one piece.
