Back in the beginning of June, regular readers of this blog may recall I made a list of 10 things I wanted to do this summer. I checked in about a month later and had accomplished three things on the list (visit the Adirondacks, have steamers & beer, and go to an outdoor concert), had specific – now completed – plans to do two more (buy a grill and get back to doing yoga), and had done a sixth (have drinks on the waterfront), though not in the place I had intended, so it only gets partial credit.
With just about a month left in summer, I’m happy to report that I can cross two more items off the list: going to the beach and seeing a Caps rookie camp scrimmage. I’ve also read two books – A Game of Thrones and Naked Heat (Nikki Heat #2) – toward my goal of five. And I doubt I’ll have any trouble getting through three more books (I think Thursday Next: First Among Sequels is up next so I can finally return it to sprite, who loaned it to me like a year ago) and going for drinks on the DC waterfront – my two half-done tasks – before Labor Day rolls around.
This leaves only one item on the list entirely untouched – going to the races at Saratoga. Until earlier today, I was pretty sure this was going to go down as the only abject failure from the list, but things are looking up now that my sister and I are hatching a plan for a quickie day trip during what will already be a whirlwind weekend jaunt to Binghamton to see her and James while they’re visiting Mom. Fingers crossed that it works out!
Of course, if I go 10-for-10 on this list, I might have to make a new list of plans as every new season arrives, to make sure I keep myself busy…
Good job!!! Sa-ra-to-ga! Sa-ra-to-ga!
If only I could get through any of the lists I make (jealous & tired *sigh*)…
When will you be in Saratoga?? (scheming going on in my head….)
