Sunset, Sprinkler, and Smiles

What a cutie!
What a cutie!

It’s Saturday (ok, it’s really Sunday, but let’s pretend I posted this when the timestamp says I did) so it’s time to look back at three beautiful things from the past week.

1. Much was made this past week of Manhattanhenge, when the sun sets in line with the streets of New York, but I saw a similarly spectacular sunset on Tuesday, when the sun was directly next to the Capitol dome, and seemingly the same size. It was absolutely stunning – I actually stopped in the median of Pennsylvania Avenue to stare.

2. One of my tasks this week was to water the yard of my friends Julia & Michael, who have been out of town. They have a sprinkler set up, and given how hot it was earlier in the week, I happily ran under it – in my work clothes! (Yes, really that hot.) It made me feel like a kid again.

3. The smiley boy at right – my eight-month-old nephew, James – came to visit for a couple of days. I’ve been covered in drool bombs and slobbery kisses, and it’s been wonderful.

What’s been beautiful in your world this week?

1). My daughter finished her last book report of the year. Considering that was is a torture session anytime we tried to get it done, this is quite an accomplishment.

2). My daughter also got one of only two base hits in her softball game the other day. She actually has a good team and has only lost twice this season, but the other pitcher was having a dream game and was totally dialed in. Oh well…that made getting a hit that much sweeter.

3). Awesome hot summery weather this week. After the Winter From Hell, the hot and humid weather is simply heavenly.

    1. Our overachiever hit one out of the park!
    2. Got to attend a black belt ceremony in support of some friends and mentors for the kids. Way cool. it is neat to see a good soul achieve a dream.
    3. Getting some long overdue projects DONE in anticipation of Mom’s arrival!!!!
    4. I’m reading a book JUST FOR ME that is not a study or anything else but an indulgence…and I’m loving it ( The Boys of Winter).

Wow, I never knew about the Manhattanhenge. I will be sure to check it out next year!
A beautiful thing that happened to me recently was playing volleyball at the beach like old times.

I must say, James in this picture looks INCREDIBLY like a friends son here, Sammy. It took me a second to realize what I was looking at. He’s gotten so big, Eileen!
