Wayback Wednesday: The Competition Arrives

Oh, I don't know about this...
Oh, I don't know about this...

Tomorrow is my sister’s birthday, so I thought I’d honor the occasion by sharing a photo of one of the very first times we met. I love the expression on my face – I look like I am about to say, “Ahhh… I’m not so sure about this!” And why would I be ? Until that point, I had been the youngest and only girl, so this wee, red, hairy bundle was clearly the competition.

It’s taken decades, but she’s no longer that, or my pesky little sister, or my annoying roommate. She’s my friend, which is pretty cool – and something that anyone who knew us at five or 10 or 20 would ever have suspected.

So, happy birthday, Eileen! I’m sorry for making that face when they brought you home from the hospital.

You’re funny. And thanks! By the way, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this picture – it’s cute, and one of the more accurate older sib expressions. Hugs. And I’m really glad we grew up to be friends. Just wish we coukd still walk together to Eastern Market on Saturday’s. 🙂

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EILEEN!!!! Have a wonderful day.

Love the starter photo. And, as both your Mom, I’m ** delighted ** that you are now friends. Sigh. Yes, there were times (many) that the possibility of that happening was in doubt. Love You Both!!

Happy birthday, Eileen! May the upcoming year hold as much joy as the previous one — and a smidge more.
