Wayback Wednesday: Graduation Day

It’s college graduation season, so I thought it would be appropriate to use a picture of my own for today’s Wayback Wednesday. I’d be lying, however, if I said the fact this counts as “wayback” didn’t pain me more than a little. But the fact that my brother is heading up to Syracuse for his 20th reunion from LeMoyne at the end of the month and my sister is flying east for her 15th from Mary Washington at pretty much the same time says that it does, in fact, qualify, given that I’m smack in between them. (Siena College class of 1993, yo!)

Of all my graduation day pictures, this photo of me and BFF Shannon is one of my favorites. We’re so fresh-faced and happy that it’s like a stock photo of newly-minted college graduates. It’s also almost the only one of my graduation photos that doesn’t contain an eyeball-searing collection of floral fashion. I had forgotten that flowers were everywhere in the early 90s – even on my brother’s tie. I’m sure we thought we looked great at the time, but now? It’s just kind of overwhelming, so it’s nice to have one photo where graduation gowns obscure the garden-party dresses.

My wish for members of the class of 2011? May you all love your college BFFs as much as I still do 18 years later… And may you be less embarrassed by your clothes.

Arrg! We do qualify as Way Back don’t we. Oh well.

It’s a darn cute picture of us. Definitely one my faves too. Miss you! Not only did we look great, but we had a kick ass trip to Ireland two weeks later. Memories to last a lifetime.

Funny, I was just in Syracuse today. Passed by the LeMoyne exit and had a meeting at the SUNY ESF campus RIGHT next to the Orange Dome.

What strikes me is how nicely blond your hair is in that picture, then looking to the picture (hair color) in the header of you sporting your jersey, then thinking of the recent b-day trip picture. You can do it all!!! Which color is your favorite?

This is typed in envy. It is said that not changing your hair in 20 years is as bad as not changing your wardrobe or the paint colors in your home (what do you know…I stil have one “eyeball-searing floral fashion” garden party dress in my closet). Ugh!!! Guess it’s time for a change…

Way back, indeed!! Great pic of two “grown ups” ready to go get the world. 

Oh, and the hair … Sarah’s birthday album is proof of her changing hair. I don’t think from the first “almost-no-hair” photo (-6 months) to the college grad one, that her hair is alike two consecutive years, be it length, style, color, etc. Changing hair, wardrobe, moving household furniture, and the like, all keep life from being boring. A woman’s prerogative is, after all, to change her mind!!
