There is Only One Thing…

…Getting me through this week, and that’s the flight to Miami on Friday for my birthday weekend. Because, omg, is the rest of it nuts. I have no idea how I’m going to get two weeks worth of work done in the 13 non-contiguous hours left between meetings. I’m earning this vacation, that’s for sure!

Apologies for the low-quality photo, by the way. For some reason, I couldn’t take a screenshot of my calendar, so I had to snap a picture with my phone.

It’s my birthday this weekend too (well, sort of… bday is Monday), so congrats to us! What does it say about me that I look at this busy calendar but only see green waves of jealousy coming off the screen due to all the Preservation love in your week? Helloooo fantasy employer!

Happy (almost) birthday to you, my fellow Aries!

And thanks for the reminder that it is a good gig – it’s easy to forget on a week when the calendar is overwhelming. Do you follow our @PreservationJob feed over on Twitter? The jobs aren’t all with us, but there’s lots of preservation love there!

Someone once told me that if you have to work double the time / effort in order to take a vacation, then it’s really not a vacation. In other words, if you typically work a 50-hour week and you put in an extra 20 hours to take a 4-day weekend, then you really never took your time off / vacation. Then factor in that the typical American will put in extra time catching up once they return to their job…I think we’re collectively missing the point of TIME OFF.

I’m impressed, and not at all surprised, by your color coding on your Outlook calendar.

Wish I was joining you in Miami. (wistful sad face)

The color coding is mostly automated and completely geeky. The colors make me happy, though.

And wish you were joining us in Miami, too…

Can I say “Happy Birthday!!!!” now? Because we all know I’ll forget to write it on the 9th!

I feel your pain about pre-and-post vacation work schedules. IN THEORY, vacation IS “entitlement” time. The worker has already EARNED it. Y E A H !! Some things (some concepts) do not change from generation to generation. Come on Miami 

Oh, and I love the wellies with the bees on ’em — too cool!

Well, at least your day doesn’t drag…

    • Sarah April 6, 2011 / 10:35 pm

I’d sell my left arm for a little dragging this week.
