Tomorrow is opening day for the Washington Nationals, and for the second year in a row, I have tickets. (And, I once again also have hockey tickets in the evening, so I have the option for another two-sport double-header.) Unfortunately, unlike last year, when I got a sunburn waiting to go through the POTUS-induced security line, the weather forecast is wretched. It’s looking like cold and rainy at best, with a possible chance of some snow. To be honest, there’s a better-than-reasonable chance I’ll end up exercising my
STH season ticket holder option and trade the tickets in for another game.
And so, rather than hearkening back to last year’s lovely afternoon, today’s Wayback Wednesday post goes a few years farther back, to 2007, when the Nats still played at RFK Stadium. My former roommate Heidi was in town for a visit and I had tickets for the game. The weather wasn’t good, a fact we knew in advance, yet – as this picture makes clear – only one of us wasn’t in denial about the situation. I did acquiesce to a warmish coat, but didn’t bring much else. I don’t remember a whole lot about the game other than I was really, really cold. I think Heidi was, too, but since she’s got a scarf in this photo, I’m telling myself she was nice and cozy – at least compared to me.
I really need to remember it’s never a good idea for me to long-arm a photo. I invariably come out looking awful.
