In Season, Chit-Chat, and Wishes

1. Hockey is back. It may only be the pre-season on streaming Internet radio, but listening to the first couple of games has made me very happy. Go Caps!

2. A lengthy, not especially (read: at all) worky chat at the office on Friday morning reminded me how much I enjoy my colleagues and how lucky I am to work with such cool people.

3. My nephew – who turns four tomorrow* – has decided that what he wants to do for his birthday is ride on the train. The simplicity of his wish makes me smile.

What’s been beautiful in your world this week?

* Most likely actually today by the time most of you will be reading this.

    1. Corey spent his first night out of the bathroom last night (because Della was curled up in his bed when I was ready for sleep) and the house is still standing.

    2. Danny has come to visit me.

    3. We went to a late afternoon ball game that ended just at twilight, which always seems to lend a particularly old-timey air to baseball.

    1. Labor preparation and induction massage – 1 1/2 hours of pampering – even though labor did not result, it was still worth the investment

    2. Simple dinners with friends on Wednesday and Friday, just enjoying each others company and our last little bit of unscheduled freedom

    3. Premiere week for some of my favorite shows (Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy)

    1. Apple Orchard visit. The apples, the raspberries, the donuts, the pumpkins, the animals (no, not the kids – the hens with the absolute funniest feather “hairdos”)…all of it.
    2. The smile on our eldest’s face when he told me his test scores from the week. He did well, and he knew it, and it was a needed confidence boost.
    3. Drugs. Nyquil and Mucinex-D to be more specific.
