Right now, I’m supposed to be en route to the airport to pick up my rental car for the drive down to Richmond, but I’d be remiss if I left town – even for a day trip – without posting three beautiful things from the past week before I left. So, here goes:
1. My nephew had such a look of pride on his face as he peeked into my room last Sunday morning to tell me he’d finished building his Lego White House all by himself. He’d been incredibly frustrated by the number of tiny pieces and lack of numbered bags the night before, so the fact that he’d powered through and succeeded made it all the better.
2. The weather has taken a turn for the perfect here in DC, after seemingly endless weeks of too damned hot. Last night was especially lovely – mid 70s and breezy – which made for perfect baseball weather. And, given that the Nats won, there were fireworks after, and I watched the game with three great friends, it was a beautiful night all around.
3. My cousin, known here on the blog as “Common Loon,” has agreed to ditch her husband and sons for New Years and come with me to Pittsburgh for the Winter Classic! I could not be more excited – I just know we are going to have a ton of fun. (Go Caps!)
