I’ve been lucky enough to have gone some pretty amazing faraway places in my life, yet I’m often surprised by the gorgeous right-around-the-corner spots that I have somehow missed.
Seneca Lake, NY, where I am currently attending a family reunion of my mom’s cousins, is just such a place – it’s only two hours from where I grew up, yet I’ve never been here before. We’re staying in a motel right along the water, and it couldn’t be lovelier.
Or so I thought until this morning, when we drove a little ways south to Watkins Glen State Park, where we took a walk down a beautiful gorge, lush with greenery and awash with water from yesterday’s rainstorm.
Below is a little of what we saw. Pretty, no?
I can’t believe these places are so close to home and we’ve never been there. Makes me want to hop a plane and come explore my home town/area 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
Late comment (been a little busy): Did you know that’s one of the places Anne & Dick used to go on dates??? We went and posed in the park to copy their old pictures. Very pretty!!!!
