“Free” Time, Glorious Defeat, and Stormy Night

I’ve been a bit remiss the past few weeks in posting three beautiful things from the past week, but now is as good a time as any to get back on track.

1. I had an unusually small number of meetings at work this week,  which meant I was uncommonly productive. It was a nice feeling to end the week with a to-do list that had actually gotten shorter rather than longer.

2. On Wednesday night, the Habs eliminated the Penguins from the playoffs. I know it isn’t nice to consider a defeat beautiful, but really… I just can’t help it. It made me a little giddy.

3. Friday was a stormy night here in DC, complete with an impressive amount of thunder and lightning, but it was also so warm that it was a perfect night to be caught in the rain. I purposely skipped the umbrella for part of my walk home.

What’s been beautiful in your world this week?

Yesterday’s gorgeous weather meant everyone was outside all day. So the beautiful things mostly had to do with that: 1 – kids outside from breakfast through until bedtime, 2 – watching the kids of the neighborhood band together* and run from yard to yard so no adult spent too much of the day with a larger-than-normal child care burden, 3- coconut-covered marshmellows made for some GREAT firepit s’mores well after the sun had set.

*Most of the toads and worms they caught and made into pets survived, and watching them act out the funeral was pretty darn cute, too…I’ve not seen such excitement over toad pee in my life!
