Sugar, Tradition, and Seasonal

As I finish the last of my Saturday morning coffee, I’m taking a moment to look back at three beautiful things from the past week:

1. My sister Eileen and I get to laughing so hard over our fried dough at the rodeo that we start to choke on the powdered sugar, which somehow makes the moment even funnier.

2. At St. Patrick’s Day lunch with friends from my days in the travel programs department, we realize our annual tradition has now surpassed 10 years, and stop to marvel that we’ve known each other so long.

3. Crocuses! Daffodils! Tulips! Magnolia buds! Blue skies! Sunshine! 70s! Or, co-mingled into one beautiful thing: spring!

What’s brought beauty to your life this week?

    1. 2 record-setting 60 degree days in a row, and they were sunny, and it was very very good!
    2. Middle child was running laps to turn some of his negative energy positive. What started as a punishment turned into pure joy somewhere between laps 3 and 7, and he just smiled big and whipped out 13 laps very quickly and with good form. Bonus: his attitude was a complete and joyous makeover. It seemed to occur to both of us at the same time that he is a runner, and his whole demeanor perked up with that discovery.
    3. I was told I was an awesome mom – unprompted and with nothing in it for him – by one of my own kids.

    1. My big sister came to visit and we had a blast!

    2. My bestest girl friend, Mary Beth, surprised me by coming to Houston for my shower last Saturday

    3. Amy, Emma, Dena, Christi and Ann threw me an awesome party and we were overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends preparing our home for kiddos. Oh, and the food was awesome – salsa with shrimp, need I say more?

#1. Knowing my “girls” were having an awesome time together!!

#2. Georgeous warm & sunny early spring days complete with sunburn on my face & forearms today after 2 hours of yard work/play. Bonus: sitting on my porch enjoying the birds & sunshine 🙂

#3. A dearly wanted baby girl arrived Friday making special friends happy Grandparents one more time.

    1. I finished a paper that’s been hanging over my head at work ever since I started the job almost three years ago.

    2. I got together with friends last night to see “The Light at the Piazza.” The show was blah, but dinner was fun.

    3. Spent an awesome day with my kids today–dance class, a birthday party, and then running around outside. Yay, spring!

Beautiful weather finally arriving in the Great Northeast. That, my friend, is a beautiful thing!
