Not surprisingly, the federal government has decided not to open tomorrow. Metro isn’t running at full capacity, most schools are closed, and a lot of the roads aren’t plowed enough — or at all. Two feet of snow in one storm is a lot anywhere, really, but particularly in places where there is limited infrastructure for managing it. And so, we’re still digging our way out.
I don’t work for the feds, of course, but like a lot of DC nonprofits, my office does follow the lead of the big guy in town when it comes to closures, so it’s a snow day for me, too. Yippee!
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t note that this might not, in fact, be our only snow day this week. A winter storm watch has been issued for Tuesday, with perhaps another five or so inches coming on top of what we already have. Sigh.

I love your pictures! Clear blue sky, snow piled high, AND A DAY OFF!!!! Many here are a twinge jealous (not about the snow, ’cause we’ve got a bit of that). This might be a hard w/e for you to beat…hockey VICTORIES, beer & brownies, chocolate, sil, and a wake-at-your-pleasure Monday morning. If you were cheering for NO – hey, bonus!
ps – Dad got power back before the 2nd half.
ARGH! You got my snow day! I DO have a 2hour delay at least…and I’m thinking the timing of the next one makes Wed a snow day…so I’m slightly less bitter than I’d normally be!
Slightly.
@Susan – Actually, I’m getting two snow days; they’ve just closed the gov’t (and thereby, my office) tomorrow, too. And given that Wedenesday’s storm has been upgraded to 10-20″ for the DC area, Wednesday is looking dicey, too.
And I’m guessing you don’t have snow make up days in your calendar??? Oh well…I’ll always have summer…:-)
Ahhhh a winter vacation — just don’t go stir crazy:). Hopefully they don’t take it out of your PTO.
