It’s the winter wonderland edition of three beautiful things!
1. As I leave my house on Wednesday morning, I hear a child loudly singing “Jingle Bells.” I look up to see her wrapped in a parka, sitting on her mother’s shoulders as they head down the street. As the mom prompts her on the words, the little girl continues to sing; I can still hear her well past the point where our paths diverge.
2. Even though the storm is barely underway, the hush of snowfall was already upon my usually-bustling city as I left Friday night’s Christmas party. (Bonus beauty: I left early enough to get a cab before the snow emergency rates kicked in and doubled my fare.)
3. A man shows up on my doorstep with two shovels, looking for work – just as I was steeling myself to take a first pass at digging out the sidewalk. I happily pony up the $20 we agree on for having both the front and back sides done, and he smiles gratefully when I present him with a cup of cocoa along with his cash.
What’s beautiful in your corner of the world?
