A Night to Forget

Sometimes, when the wheels of the bus go round and round they spin right off their axel and the ensuing carnage is ugly…such was tonight’s Caps game.

I’m sure Sarah will have more to say, but I wanted to save her the agony of having to write the post-mortem on an awesome season and several post-season heroic efforts. Tonight’s wreck came out of nowhere and was/is painful to watch.

The game is actually still underway, but with less than ten minutes to go in the 3rd and a score of 6 to 2, I think is it sadly safe to say that this is the end of the road for the Caps this season.

But thanks for infecting all of us with Caps fever, sis. Wish I could’ve been there with you for all these games. But am grateful for Versus where I have enjoyed watching in high def (can even see the puck on Chris’s BIG tv. 🙂

Can’t wait for next season. Let’s Go Caps!

I didn’t have the guts to watch the ugly end. Sorry Sarah! Now when your health returns you can get back to enjoy more normal May activities.

Sorry ’bout the Caps. Much as we can collectively grouse about the officiating, a look at the stats speaks volumes: porous defense, too much reliance on the goalie to keep things afloat.

And where were our cutting attacks? Apparently, the Pens had our number dialed in: bother Ovetchkin, problem solved. As Mel, the cook on “Alice,” once said, “the best defense is a good offense.” And with the stars neutralized, that was easy. Combine the lack of defense and the flaccid offense, and…. well, you get this.

Now we can move on to the real boys of summer: professional cycling. Levi is looking strong in the Giro d’Italia, facing off against the world’s best. And this washed-up Texan is there, too, but he’s sucking it up something fierce (as he predicted, mind you). 😉
