Lots of Rocks

Today my dad would have turned 70. It’s been almost two years since he died, and I’m still blown away by how much I miss him. I know everyone in my family does too, but we don’t often talk about it. The comment below on yesterday’s picture of the day really drove that point home, though.

I don’t know if this can be moved to the front page with a picture of a glass of scotch on the rocks (lots of rocks) but for my one and possibly only appearance on the Sweetpea’s Garden blogging network, I would just like to raise a toast to Dad — on what would have been his 70th birthday.

I miss him all the time.

Here’s to you…

This is from my brother, who neither comments on the blog nor regularly writes anything longer than a sentence.  That he did both today is more meaningful than I can express.

Happy Birthday, Dad.

And Bri, good idea on the Scotch photo. I’ll work on that when I get home tonight.

We all loved your dad, and though I obviously didn’t know him as well as you, it was apparent to me just what an intelligent, witty, and wonderful person he was.
He was so incredibly nice to me that day I visited your family in Lake George – I arrived at your hotel, but he was the only one there at the time. He invited me in, and showed me how to handicap the ponies (’cause that what he was doing at the time!).
And, he leaves a lasting legacy in his children – three terrific people who I’m sure made their dad very proud.

I’m thinking of you all today – Sarah, Brian, Eileen, and of course Mom H. ❤

I can’t say it anymore eloquently than Wendy just did so I will defer to her and “ditto”.

    Hugs.
