Vanishing Act

Clearly, I haven’t been writing enough lately — I got a “just checking in” call on Tuesday night. So, I thought I’d better write a quick post explaining why I’ve disappeared lately.

The biggest reason is that my job has been going through some changes — good ones, but also ones that require that I get to work earlier and spend most of my day working with hair-on-fire intensity. The change in schedule cuts down on my time to write in the morning, both because I’m a little less awake and because the trains are just more crowded, which means it’s harder to sit down and do my usual thumb-typing. And the intensity means that by the time I get home, I’m tired and not especially interested in spending more time in front of the computer.

The other factor is that my non-work life has not been terribly exciting lately, or at least nothing is going on that lends itself to storytelling. I can’t really blame my dull-ass life for a lack of writing, given that I’ve spent a year and a half blogging about it and it’s not as if my life is newly unexciting. Sometimes, though, boring things happen in a way that can be recounted interestingly (which has been the saving grace of this whole blog endeavor) but now is not one of those times.

Anyway… that’s my story. I’m sure I’ll get my mojo back soon. In the meantime, talk among yourselves.

Thanks for the update! Hang in! You’re a great firefighter. And rest, take some vitamins, and nourish properly or you’ll get sick heading into your favorite holiday. NO ONE wants to be sick on Thanksgiving!

Not trying to step on your mom’s toes – I just care.

And since I have internet at the moment (our modem died and the new one just isn’t installing the way it should)…please do send those measurements when you get a moment?

    re: Mojo

Let’s plan a fun group trip after the new year… something to look forward to… nothing to extravagant, maybe just a house in the woods, beer, a grill…

I know about the overworked thing — my “bossman” worked out of his son’s apartment in Boston last week and after 19 e-mails in less than four hours one day I was ready to KILL him! He & his wife were taking care of their 6 mo. old granddaughter while the nanny was on her h-moon; and I told him if he did not cease and desist I was “wishing him a shitty diaper”! GAWD — HATE those BBs — long distance bugging is over the top. And, putting it all together this week is beyond tedious–some stuff here/some stuff there…

Oh, and thanks Loon — hope you get it Sweetpea. What Loon has failed to tell all is that she is only up one day from several in the sack with pneumonia! So, she speaks volumes about “taking care”.

And, Heidi, why go “cheap” — cruises in Jan/Feb — just 3 days to the Bahamas — are awesome! Just a break from snow/cold/jobs/kids/husbands/whatever. I’m thinking about one for January myself.

That’s it girls — hugs for all! Sweetpea — see, even a short blog gives us all a chance to weigh in 🙂

    I get those calls, too… I’m glad I’m not the only one…
