I decided I’d prepare a post to put up on my five minutes of battery life for when the power goes out (that way no one will worry when I stop writing). Okay so I know you will all be worrying but…a girl can hope!
Damn, Chris just pointed out that even though the cable and the power may not go out simultaneously the modem won’t work…so I guess I’ll have to text Sarah and ask her to go and post this post facto. Technology…urgh!!!
On to happier thoughts, we are feeling very loved – so many people have called, emailed, and commented (I’m trying to keep up with email, Facebook and here). Thanks for all the caring. Since we’re 60 miles inland, we’ll be okay.
Oh, important information $$$. If you are a car owner and haven’t filled up your tanks, I’d hit the gas station first thing in the morning cause your gas prices are about to go up, uP, UP!
Okay, so we are off to enjoy our candle light. Sarah will keep you informed from this point forward. Thanks sis!
(Posted by Sarah, a little late. Sorry.)
Had a text msg from Eileen at 11:31 that power was “still out” but fine. I watched tv until 1:30 and have had it on again since about 5:30. Jim Cantori drives me C R A Z Y !! I am more worried than I was yesterday as apparently metro Houston is really getting hammered. I’ll report more as soon as I know.
Yeah…the more tv you watch the scarier!!!!!!! Post as soon as there is news, please!
ditto!
also, if you didn’t get your gas by 10 am yesterday, don’t bother…jumped 15 cents by 10:01, and I’m sure it’s much much more now
I have the Weather Channel on now….I tried to keep it off so that my stomach wouldn’t flip over.
Glad to hear that Eileen and Chris are good but in the dark.
Please keep your hopes up for my friends in League City. I haven’t heard anything from them. One is riding it out and the others escaped to Dallas with the hopes that they have something to return to.
@ Sionna — CL & Susan have both had e-mails from me. Eileen & Chris are safe; they weathered the night, albeit it scary!! They don’t think they have any structural damage to their house, a lot of debris; two neighbors’ huge trees down, but apparently did not strike a dwelling; still too dark to see clearly what had happened. Whew! We talked a little before 7 — the best voice I’ve heard in a long time 🙂 They hunkered down on a mattress in the hall ’cause their downstairs bedroom has a wall of glass doors. Good thought, Chris! In a short while, Ike should be on its way. My heart aches for all their community with the damage they have to clean up/repair. Hmmmmmmmmmm.
