I can hardly believe it, but it has been a year since I launched this blog. Wow. I’m surprised that I’ve stuck with it this long, given that writing daily — or at least often enough that people keep reading — takes more discipline than I thought I had. WordPress really lured me in with their stats page, though, and watching the little lines on the graph climb and fall has proved compelling enough to keep me going. I thought I’d share some of the numbers, because, well, I can’t think of a clever April Fools Day joke and I need to post something.
Total Views: 19,364 (Seriously?)
Spam Comments Blocked: 4,053 (Yes, that’s slightly more than three spam comments for every legit one. Crazy.)
Best Day Ever: 218 — Monday, June 25, 2007 (This is the post from that day. Huh.)
Most Viewed Post: Best. Thanksgiving. Appetizer. Ever.
#1 Referring Site (Overall): Netvibes (Perhaps because, way back in the beginning, I recommended it to the few of you reading this back then?)
#1 Referring Site (People I Actually Know): Bomboniera (MsP has also been on the receiving end of the most click-thrus from this site. Appropriate, since her blog, along with sprite’s and Rudi’s, were among my main inspirations for starting this.)
Over the course of the year, I was listed twice in the daily round-up from DC Blogs — the aforementioned Best. Thanksgiving. Appetizer. Ever. (explains how it’s most-viewed, eh?) and more recently, for I Hate March 19th.
So, thanks to all of you who’ve stuck with me through this year, even during the hiatus that took up most of February. And thanks, too, for hitting “refresh” so often. It really drives up my numbers.
