Return of My Random Ten

Both Snapdragon and randomduck picked up my slack last week while I was in St. Paul and posted their random tens. I am happy to be back posting my list again, though — if for no other reason that it means my day is calm enough to allow it. Post yours in the comments…

  1. Touch, Sarah McLachlan
  2. Parachute, Guster
  3. Like a Rolling Stone, Bob Dylan
  4. If Wishes Were Changes, Nanci Griffith
  5. Kilimanjaro, Original Broadway Cast, Sarafina (because there had to be a showtune in here somewhere)
  6. Steve McQueen, Sheryl Crow
  7. Into the Fire, Sarah McLachlan
  8. Pieholden Suite, Wilco
  9. Afunani Amaphoyisa eSoweto, Original Broadway Cast, Sarafina (two from the same show — that’s odd even for my ‘pod’s Broadway fixation)
  10. If You Leave, OMD (my favorite song from the 80s!)

Today’s list is being drawn solely from my iPod, with iTunes doing the driving.

    1. “Gone” – Jack Johnson
    2. “In The Land Of Make Believe” – Dusty Springfield
    3. “I Was In The House When The House Burned Down” – Warren Zevon
    4. “It’s Only Love” – The Beatles
    5. “Eric The Half A Bee” – Monty Python
    6. “Other Side Of Town” – Julian Lennon
    7. “Natchez Trace” – Dusty Springfield
    8. “Same Old Stuff” – The Feeling
    9. “War Fields Forever” – The Beatles (a mash-up from the internet-distributed HATE collection)
    10. “Patterns” – Paul Simon

It seems that iTunes is on a Dusty Springfield kick today – and I’m not complaining one bit.

    1. Suite Madame Blue – Styx
    2. I’ve Got a Crush on You – Frank Sinatra
    3. Same Old Song and Dance – Aerosmith
    4. How Much Longer – Eve 6
    5. United We Stand – The Brotherhood…(Wonder Years Soundtrack)
    6. Goodbye – Sarafina
    7. Girl Can’t Help It – Journey
    8. Babylon – David Gray
    9. Guess I’ll Hang My Tears Out to Dry – Frank Sinatra
    10. Plumet Attack – Les Mis
BONUS: Silent All These Years – Tori Amos

I find it fascinating that my pod seems to be linked spiritually in some way to Sarah’s — apparently Sarafina is sweeping the country 🙂

btw, we are all glad you’re back (I didn’t do a very good job last week – I just didn’t have much nice to say)

Apparently my MP3 player has the WORST shuffle ever. I put more music on it over the past week and not only is it coming up with the same old songs as previous shuffle lists, but it also came up with 3 songs from the same musical, and two songs from the same artists! (shrugs).

Anthem – Chess Original Cast Soundtrack (The British Cast…the REAL version!)
    Bitter End – Dixie Chicks
    Wild Rover – Dropkick Murphys
Knock Em Out – Lily Allen (this song totally cracks me up)
Lay Me Down – The Wreckers
The Epilogue – You and I – Chess Original Cast Soundtrack
Fairytale of New York – The Pogues w/Kristy McColl
    Travelin’ Soldier – Dixie Chicks
I Know Him So Well – Chess Original Cast Soundtrack (at least it picked good songs from this musical)
Tessie – Dropkick Murphys (again – GO RED SOX!!! Sorry Eileen!)

We went a little more eclectic this week than my folk-heavy playlists tend to be:

    1. London Calling, The Clash
    2. I Will Follow You into the Dark, Death Cab for Cutie
    3. I Love, I Love (Traveling II), Dar Williams
    4. I Should Have Known Better, The Naturals
    5. Goodbye Earl, Dixie Chicks
    6. Casey at the Bat, James Earl Jones and the Cincinnati Pops
    7. Zambra, Willie & Lobo
    8. In Deux Time, Deux Process
    9. Get Away, 120 Days
    10. The Next Best Western, Richard Shindell
