Late for the Train

The Hogwarts Express, that is.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re aware that the latest wave of Harry Potter-mania is sweeping the world as the fifth movie (The Order of the Phoenix) and the seventh — and final — book (The Deathly Hallows) are making their debuts in a ten-day wizardpalooza that began last Wednesday.

I managed to convince myself that all of this was happening last month, and was eagerly anticipating both the book and the movie. Once I found out I had the dates all wrong, I somehow lost steam and now am not ready at all. I haven’t yet made it to the movie, I just pre-ordered the book on Amazon over the weekend, and I still need to re-read The Half-Blood Prince — before Saturday when the new one comes in the mail.

I’m wishing right now that I had Hermione’s time-turner so I could buy myself a few extra days, but alas, I’m just a muggle.

I didn’t finish book 5 last night, so that’s my plan for before/after tonight’s ball game. Which gives me four days to read book six. That’s twice how long it took me to read it the first time, but I still suspect it’s going to be tough.

Sprite, I’m in the same boat – about 300 pages left in OOTP and all of HBP to read. However, I’m not sure I’ll be purchasing DH on Saturday so I don’t feel the same rush to finish.

Who am I kidding – I’ll probably be at Borders Friday night w/ my crimson-and-gold scarf.

I re-read HBP not too long ago, so I’m going to give it a quick reading this week to get me ready for this Saturday’s Amazon delivery (well worth the delivery charge in my opinion).

I have next week off from work which is a happy coincidence. I don’t have to read it on my lunch breaks or sneak some chapters while the boss is in a meeting. Yay!

I have not seen the new movie yet either. No one to go with. 😦 I may end up going by myself. No shame in that.

I’m oddly unexcited. I didn’t preorder the book, and I have an orientation thing on Saturday, so I’ll probably wander over to the bookstore on Sunday (or maybe not, I’m planning a zoo outing). Whatever.
