As I mentioned in my first post, I’ve decided to borrow an idea from my friend sprite, who lists “three beautiful things” from the past week each Thursday on her blog, sprite writes. In this past week’s post, though, she linked to the original three beautiful things blog, wherein a British woman named Clare finds three beautiful things to write about every day.
Me, I am just not that positive, so once a week will have to do.
And I thought Monday seemed like a good day of the week for this regular feature, since who wouldn’t want to be reminded of beauty on the day we all head back to the office?
So, without further ado:
1. Last Monday was an absolutely perfect spring day. I celebrated by taking my book to the circle to read during lunch. I decided on the way to stop by Ben & Jerry’s for a cone of my favorite ice cream — coconut almond fudge chunk. It was so lovely that I could hardly drag myself back to the office.
2. I recently lost one-half the pair of my favorite earrings — the ones I wear about five out of seven days a week. It fell out of my purse, where I had stashed them while getting my hair cut. I was ticked, because I would actually have to think about colors and matching without my standby silver hoops. After having been gone more than a week, it turned up sitting on the doorstep of my apartment building. I have no idea if that’s where it fell or if someone found it in the yard and set it there, but it’s back and I couldn’t be happier. My casual approach to accessorizing won’t have to end after all.
3. Last night, I had Sunday dinner with my friends on the Hill, which we used to do every week, but we’ve gotten a little out of the habit lately. It was great to hang out and drink some wine, as always, but they also surprised me with a cake for my birthday-eve. Everyone knew I wasn’t up for a big birthday fuss this year, but there was just enough to make it clear my day wasn’t going to be forgotten. My friends knew better than I did what I needed for my birthday.
