Just what I needed for today… a super-fast prompt from Booking Through Thursday:
Quick–what are you reading right now? Would you recommend it? What’s it about?
I’m reading A Clash of Kings, the second book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin.
I would recommend it, but only to people who like really long, detailed reads – the series is already at five books and more than 4,000 pages – where historical elements (essentially, the pre-Tudor Wars of the Roses in England) merge with a fantastical world (seasons last years, dragons are real, and mysterious shadows commit murder) in an epic, violent, conflict-laden story where pretty much no one is a hero. I am enjoying it a lot – even if some of the POV characters are not my favorites – but it’s by no means an easy or quick read.
I am hoping, though, to pick up the pace somewhat, since I’d really like to get the third book in the series read before the third season of the HBO series – called Game of Thrones, after the first book – comes out next year.
And now it’s your turn: what are you reading right now?

I LOVE this series. Now, the best action is in book three. Definitely stay with the series. It’s wordy and there’s a lot of characters dying, but its one of the best action-pack series out there.

I haven’t read any in the series yet, but they do sound cool

…and Now Miguel
Wouldn’t give it my strongest recommendation, but it has allowed for a ton of discussion (extends into daily life). “Bubbaloo” is used about every other day.
Well, I brought “The Wisdom of Crowds” with me on this trip, but I haven’t touched it yet.
