VIPs, Frozen, and Done

It’s a two-post Saturday, because I need to share this past week’s three beautiful things, but they just didn’t seem to fit in with the skyblogging post. I’ve kinda been sharing beautiful things all week long (most notably, this), as having a week of family time and being on vacation are full of little moments, but here are three I didn’t mention before.

1. We were loaned a special pin for our visit to the Houston Rodeo that allowed us free access – and to sit wherever we wanted, so long as we moved if ticket holders arrived to claim their seats. We watched about half the events from just a few rows back, and never had to leave the lower tier, even for the Miranda Lambert concert after the sporty part was done.

Bonus rodeo beautiful thing: Miranda played my favorite of her songs, “The House that Built Me.” I may have gotten a little misty.

2. Eileen introduced me to the summery deliciousness that is frozen sangria. I don’t know if this is available in DC (I’ve never seen it), but you can bet I’ll be keeping my eye out for it now.

3. I was planning to use my Sunday at home to clean up my apartment and do my laundry from the trip, but I was reminded via email that yesterday was my scheduled visit from the cleaners, and Eileen and I did all my wash this morning before I packed, so my chores are done and I’m faced with a relaxing, chore-free Sunday. I don’t think anyone would disagree that that’s a beautiful thing.

What’s been beautiful in your world this week?

  1. 1. B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Weather! 5 + days of record- breaking temps. Last year, the snowblower was used for St. Paddy’s Day, this year we’re in shorts and tees and flip flops! We’ve been told our week has been nicer than FL or CA.
    2. Walking tour of our State Capitol, complete with observations of the House and Senate in session, Lego replicas, Judicial hearings. The kids then had the energy to hike to Summit Avenue (James Hill house) and the cathedral (more Legos)!
    3. “Summer” evenings with friends.

Oh, this has been a week when it’s tough to stick to just three things. Nice to have one of those!

  2. Not as exciting here as Sarah’s #1 or Loon’s #2, but……

    1) L O T S of gorgeous warm days too — summer tan is maxed already!! Had to carry Toby home from our walk the other day — he was heat beat ๐Ÿ˜Š
    2) Spring cleaning early — love the sparkle! Finished putting away the snow people decorations — somehow they just didn’t glisten in the sunshine….
    3) Seemed good to grovel in the yard too (til I woke up and my “glutes” we’re screaming).
Then, I put out my porch furniture and the rest is history! I’m on book #2.

    Global warming??? Okay here ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
